I discovered acupuncture twenty years ago as a patient myself. I walked into my first treatment feeling stressed and exhausted and left with a feeling I can only describe, in the same way that many of my own patients do, as ‘better in myself’ with my energy on the way to being restored. I also decided, on leaving that first treatment, to become an acupuncturist myself.
I graduated with a Licentiate in Acupuncture from The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading in 2004. The course was over three years in length, equating to around 1,500 hours of lectures in Chinese Medicine theory, practical training and clinical experience as well as a firm grounding in western medical science. The College integrates two theories of Chinese Medicine; Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture and I now use both styles of acupuncture in my own practice along with the practices of cupping, moxa and gua sha.
I work from my home in North Berwick in a dedicated treatment room which is licensed for acupuncture treatment by East Lothian Council. I have been a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) since 2004 and am fully insured via my membership. The BAcC is the main governing body of traditional acupuncturists in the UK, and my practice is governed by the BAcC’s Code of Safe Practice.
I undertake ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) both in the form of self-study and formal training as well as keeping abreast of the growing research base into acupuncture and other forms of holistic health, in order to provide the best quality of care to my patients.
Living in the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick, my practice is made up of a huge variety of patients, from children to the elderly and from people seeking help from complaints as diverse as sports injuries and depression. I don’t specialize in any particular area but love the variety of my work and the different types of people I come across on a daily basis.
Questions? Feel free to get in touch!
I have a firm belief in the Eastern philosophy of body-mind-spirit being inseparable and through my own practice I have seen the subtle but transformative power of acupuncture. Please feel free to give me a call to chat through whether acupuncture could help you.
